UF Researchers: Ancient Crocodile Relative Likely Food Source for Titanoboa
A 60-million-year-old relative of crocodiles described this week by University of Florida researchers in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology was likely a food source for Titanoboa, the largest snake the world has ever known.
New Study Suggests Theory for Insect Colonies as ‘Superorganisms’
A team of researchers including scientists from the University of Florida has shown insect colonies follow some of the same biological “rules” as individuals, a finding that suggests insect societies operate like a single “superorganism” in terms of their physiology and life cycle.

Eligible students must have minimum 3.5 GPA and be certified to graduate from CLAS at the May 1, 2010 undergraduate commencement ceremonies. -
The University Scholars Program
provides a $2,000 stipend
for undergraduates to carry out research and scholarship with a mentor
and up to $500 in travel funds to present their research at a conference.

- CLAS announces Doctoral Dissertation Nominees
- A $1,000 award has been established to recognize outstanding mentorship in aging by UF faculty. Nominations from students due March 10.
- Applications for the Faculty Enhancement Opportunity (FEO) Awards will be due this Spring for awards in Summer and Fall, 2010. Details of the FEO program and the application form are available on the Office of the Provost website.
